About Alcove

Alcove is a curated shop for useful, good-looking things chosen from a much wider field of ordinary ones. We are not a marketplace and we are not a factory. We are the filter.

What we actually do

We source from specialist suppliers and makers rather than pretending everything is designed or manufactured by Alcove. For every product category we look at the field, compare what exists, and select the version worth owning — based on usefulness, material, appearance, supplier quality, specifications and how reliably it can be delivered.

Most of what we look at doesn't make it in. That is the point. A small catalogue where every item has a reason to be there beats a large one where nothing does.

How an item earns its place

• It solves an actual problem — not an invented one.
• The materials are honest: timber, rattan, canvas, metal. Things that wear in, not out.
• The specifications hold up — dimensions, capacity and function are verified against supplier documentation before we publish them.
• It looks good enough to leave out.
• It can be delivered to you reliably, at a timeframe we're willing to print.

Every item in the catalogue carries a Useful Item number, a plain explanation of why it made the cut, its exact dimensions, and — where it helps — a technical drawing. If a performance figure appears on a product page, it comes from the supplier's or manufacturer's verified specification, and is presented as such.

What we won't do

No fake discounts. No invented urgency. No claims we can't back. If something in the catalogue stops meeting the standard, it leaves the catalogue.
